7 Ways to Celebrate Halloween in 2016

It’s hard deciding whether or not to celebrate halloween with young children; if it’s their first halloween, they won’t remember a thing and will be too busy sleeping or eating to participate in all of the halloween activities like the older kids.

At the same time, you can’t wait to dress them up and snap some cute pictures!

The cold- and usually snow- that Calgary brings during Halloween can also be a deterrent for many families with children.

Thankfully there are some great options this Halloween that are fun for the whole family, and will be a great place to take some cute photos, have tons of fun, and stay warm.

We’ve also thrown in some options for older children and even a date-night event.

Note: a lot of these halloween events operate on the weekend as well, so no worries about having to take time off work, or miss the event! Best of both worlds.

Option #1

Saturday & Sunday, October 29-30th (NOON-5pm)

Halloween Night Only, October 31st (4-8pm)

The free crafts will keep the older children busy while parents with babes-in-arms stand in line to get a free printed photo with the entire Peanut Gang. Win-Win.

*The first 100 to get their picture taken will receive a light up jack-o-lantern pendant

Option #5

Butterfield Acres

An old favourite is Butterfield Acres; come for the pumpkin patch and stay for the animals.

Be sure to dress warm; an average of 1.5 – 2 hours is spent here.

Ride the tractor into the pumpkin patch where each child gets to pick out their own pumpkin and take it back with them to decorate.  Leave the pumpkin to dry while you explore the rest of the farm; pony rides, bunnies, and a wandering pygmy goat are at the top of the list.

Remember to pick up your pumpkin before heading home!
